Hampshire Low Grade and Kyu Grade open replaced by randori session

As you will be aware from our listing of upcoming events, this weekend should have seen Hampshire hosting the Kyu Grade and Low Grade Opens. Sadly, for reasons that are not entirely clear, these events have been cancelled. Low grade junior players should now be considering the High Wycombe Mini Mons tournament on 20 November. It’s a nice venue, and only 90 minutes away.

The Hampshire events have been replaced by a randori session, open to all players (junior and senior). The event will run from 10-12 noon at Places Leisure in Eastleigh. A £7.50 mat fee will apply, all junior red and yellow belt players will receive a medal or certificate.

We would urge all players to take advantage of this opportunity to practise with players from other clubs.

New Year randori

The Club re-opens on Tuesday 9 January… but you have a chance to clear away the Christmas cobwebs (and maybe burn a few pounds of Christmas turkey) on Saturday 6, with a randori session at Holbrook Judo Club.

The session will run from 10 to 12 noon at Holbrook Judo Club, Brune Park Community School, Military Road, Gosport and is open to all players, with a mat fee of £5.00.

Hope to see a lot of you there – what a great way to start our 25th year.

Saturday randori session

RandoriWith the Hampshire Open on 2 October, all players thinking of entering need as much mat time as possible. They are urged therefore to attend the randori session at Holbrook Judo Club on Saturday 10 September.

These sessions are usually split roughly 50:50 newaza and tachiwaza and offer a great way to gain extra practice with players who you don’t usually train with. Players are split by age and size.

The session runs 10 – 12 noon at Holbrook Judo Club, Brune Park Community School, Military Road, Gosport.

Randori session this Saturday

RandoriPlayers are invited to join the randori session with Holbrook this Saturday (12 March) – would be great to see as many Court Lane players there as possible. It would build nicely on the progress we have made this year, and set players up nicely for the Hampshire Closed.

The session will run 10-12 noon at Holbrook Judo Club, Brune Park School in Gosport. There is a £5 mat fee.
