Gradings update

Several players graded in late November / early December. This coincided with the go live date of the BJA’s new membership database. Some details were sent to the BJA for them to upload prior to the system going live, others were submitted directly into the new system.

Despite chasing, it appears that the grades sent to the BJA for submission prior to go live have not been processed – for which we can only apologise. We have therefore entered these grade details into the grading database ourselves and sent an email of complaint to the BJA.

Hopefully players will receive grading confirmation shortly.

There are still a couple of players with whom we have outstanding grading issues – due to transfers from other clubs, grading schemes etc. – that we will attempt to resolve over the next few days.

Gradings start next week!

First of all, an apology that so many of you have had to wait so long to 1. get your grade registered, 2. receive confirmation of your grade. Sadly, the situation has been out of our hands – a major software change at British Judo then a lack of grading packs. Hopefully everyone has now received the confirmation of their grade.

We will start running gradings again from next week – this will probably take us up to end of term (provisionally 15 December, waiting for school to confirm).

If presenting yourself for your grade, please show a valid British Judo membership card and have the correct grading fee.

Gradings update

As you are probably aware, the BJA implemented a new membership system over the summer (“the Dojo”).

Like you, we were expecting a fully developed and configured system to be unveiled, especially as the go live date was put back.

Not the case however! All that has been launched so far is a minimum product, that enables members to check their own details and renew licence. There are no coach or club modules currently available, meaning that we are unable to process the grading results from July. BJA staff are also unable to process gradings at Head Office. It is hoped that this functionality will be rolled out shortly.

We apologise for the delay in players receiving this new grades, sadly the situation is out of our hands. As soon as we can submit new grade information we will do so.

Having worked on a new IT system configuration for the last two years, and just entering the really interesting stage of assisted migration runs, User Acceptance Testing and parallel running – it is disappointing to see the delays and gaps in the new Dojo system.

New grades confirmed

Congratulations to Chloe who was promoted to 10th mon (green belt) last night.

Since joining us as as a yellow belt, Chloe has won a number of medals and represented Hampshire in the Inter County tournament. This is the next step on Chloe’s judo journey, we are very proud of you Chloe – well done!

Chloe will be competing at the Kent International this weekend.

Belated congratulations also to Hani, who was awarded 1st Sho at the end of May.

Grading resources

Just a quick reminder as we move into our next phase of grading, the BJA has published a host of grading resources online. These include videos, and downloadable copies of Sho, Mon and Kyu syllabi.

Please make sure your contact details are up to date on The Dojo, the BJA’s online membership system – this is migrating to a new system starting this Saturday and will be off line for about three weeks. Details can be amended and new memberships taken out until end of day Friday.

Due to the Dojo outage, there will be a delay registering grades with the BJA – so please remember to bring in your licence book so that this can be updated with grade details. This will be the only proof of grade until The Dojo is back up and running.
