Apologies, but the school is having difficulties with the new flooring in the hall so there is no judo on 20th Aug. Should be back on next week as listed on the summer timetable.
Remember, you can always go and train with Steve at Havant Judo Kwai on Mondays.
It’s not judo but Court Lane and ex GB judoka, Brett Caswell continued his professional MMA career with a points victory on Saturday 27th July 2013. A deserved win with several big “ippon” throws and dominating ground game.
That’s 2 wins and no losses as a professional, following on from an unbeaten amateur record. Judo proving to be a good base.
Well done Brett.
Like most clubs, we play games with the kids towards the end of their session. Why do the smallest/youngest/shortest always want to play Jump The River? (Basically long jump, with two belts depicting the river, getting further apart each round).
Saying that, we do have some kids who now have legs like springs!
Apologies for the late notice, but we have just been informed by the school that they need the hall for another function on Tuesday 23rd July. So there is no more judo before the end of term.
But don’t forget, we do have some sessions running through the summer. Follow this link for more details and please join us for as many as you can.
We are pleased to announce that, for the first time for many years, we will be running classes over the summer months, on Tuesdays only. Read more ›
Thanks to Steve for his hospitality and tuition Monday night (15th June 2013). Assisted on the mat by our own Kev, the kids went over left & right throwing techniques and the importance of the hands in kuzushi, using de ashi barai as the technique.
Highlight of the evening though was the showdown between between Court Lane and Havant for the Spreadbury Cup. The Spreadbury Cup was set up by the clubs’ founder to generate a bit of competition between the two clubs. This has been in the hands of Havant for far too long. But our kids are a bit older and stronger now and for the first time in a long time, the cup is back in the hands of Court Lane Judo Club.
We have no doubt that Steve will be back with a vengeance in the return leg towards the end of the year.
We will be visiting Steve’s club at Park Community School on Monday 15 July 2013. All junior players aged 8 and above are urged to attend. The session will start at 6.30pm and run to about 9pm. Refreshments will be provided.
The blog will contain the rambling thoughts of any of the committee members or guest posters. We’ll try to keep it judo related but can’t promise that. Anything goes in the Blog. Well. Almost anything.
Articles are pages that may focus on a particular technique or piece of history. The topic will always be relevant to judo, if not always obviously so.
